The Final Nail in the Hot and Hammered Series

Tools of Engagement by Tessa Baily is the final book in the Hot and Hammered series. It still continues down the path of home renovations but this time focuses on the final Castle family member's life drama. This final book shows us just how one uncle trying to raise his sister's daughter alone can grab hold of your heart at the wrong time.

Everything in Bethany Castle's world is organized, planned and styled to perfection. That is why the homes she designs for her family's real estate business are the most sought-after in town. The only thing not perfect? Her track record with men. She's on a dating hiatus and after helping her friends achieve their dreams, Bethany finally has time to focus on her own: flip a house, from framework to furnishings, all by herself. But her older brother runs the company and refuses to take her seriously.

When a television producer gets wind of the Castle sibling rivalry, they’re invited on a new show, Flip Off, a competition to see who can do the best renovation. Bethany wants bragging rights, but she needs a crew and the only member of her brother's construction team willing to jump ship is Wes Daniels, the new guy in town. His Texas drawl and handsome face got under Bethany's skin on day one, but the last thing she needs is some cocky young cowboy in her way.

As the race to renovate heats up, Wes and Bethany are forced into close quarters and banter as they remodel the ugliest house on the block. But Bethany's perfectly structured life is one kiss away from going up in smoke and she knows falling for a guy like Wes would be a flipping disaster.

Wes was a character that I did not prefer in the second book of the series, but this book has definitely changed my mind about him. I always love reading about single men trying to navigate the world of raising a sassy elementary-level girl. Bethany also not knowing how to deal with children also elevated the comedy of the situation

Like I have said in the other reviews of the first two books of the series, if you like a cute romance and house flipping like HGTV, this series is absolutely perfect for you. Hot and Hammered is a series unlike any other thanks to Tessa Bailey. I feel that if houses are not quite your thing, you should still check out any other book that she has made because they are all fantastic!

  1. Hi Olive, you make books sound so interesting on here! Personally I love to read reviews of books before I buy them or invest myself because I don't wanna waste time on something I won't enjoy. But, sometimes it's worth the risk. This one sounds super interesting, if only I saw your other reviews on the first two books first.

  2. I love how you described this final book it sounds like the perfect mix of humor, heart, and HGTV-style drama! I wasn’t sure how I felt about Wes either, but now I’m super curious to see how he grows in this story. And Bethany tackling a whole house flip? This series sounds like such a fun ride. I really need to check it out!

  3. This seems like an intriguing book series. The way you describe the story line and the character is very detailed and true. I can clearly tell that this series captured your attention. Still, I am not that interested into these romance novels that much. They kind of seem predictable at the end, no matter how the situation starts. Still, if you enjoy them, keep on reading them. -VA
